New Jersey MVC History
The New Jersey MVC was officially created in 2003. Prior to this,
the government controlled the state’s roads and drivers with the New
Jersey Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV). As part of a state-wide
government restructuring effort, the MVC was created with the Motor
Vehicle Security and Customer Service Act. This legislation has helped
put customer service first in New Jersey.
In addition, with the restructure to the MVC, security is tighter,
making personal information safer. One of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle
Commission’s greatest projects since its start has been in creating a
DDL (Digital Driver License) that has more than 20 security features.
This has helped New Jersey to become the leading state in terms of
secure ID verification.
